One ingredient is the hard way

Read the back of almost any dog treat and you will find a paragraph where a word should be. Glycerin to keep it soft. A humectant so it survives the shelf. Something smoked, something coloured, something to bind the rest together.

Every one of those has a reason. They make the treat cheaper, more forgiving, and far more likely to look the same in month nine as it did in week one.

The part nobody photographs

Take them out and the process gets fussy. Slices have to be even or they dry at different rates. Trays have to be turned. Time replaces chemistry, and time is the one input you cannot discount.

What you get back is a treat that snaps instead of bends, smells like chicken instead of smoke, and has an ingredients list you can say out loud in one breath.

Chicken. That's the list.

It is not a clever formulation. It is the opposite — the version left over once you have refused to add anything. We think that is worth the extra trays.
